Smallish Bloggery, Day 6: My current playlist

Not once have I ever professed to have good taste in music.  I like intelligent, meaningful songwriting as much as any girl raised on Lilith Fair, but I also love crappy, well-crafted radio pop.  Give me a good hook and I will overlook a world of sins, except a certain degree of creepy relationship dynamics or sugar-coated schmoopy treacle like Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect.”

(I absolutely loathe that song, and I love a LOT of his songs, so you know it must grate on me.)

Thanks to my recent subscription to Apple Music lately I’ve been listening to a lot of 90s throwback, which is where the dark side of my bad taste truly lives, in the Chumbawumbas and Mariah Carey screechers of my teenage years.  But when it comes down to it, the playlist I return to while I’m at work is a six-hour tour of my taste that includes these twelve tracks in heavy rotation this Summer.

(Note that I don’t really care all that much about the videos and in most cases had never even seen them – it’s just the easiest way to do a playlist everyone can listen to.)

  1. Dua Lipa – IDGAF
  2. lovelytheband – Broken
  3. Dizzy – Pretty Thing
  4. Bishop Briggs – White Flag (Definitely going on the Book 8 soundtrack.)
  5. Taylor Swift – Delicate (Currently my favorite song. Fight me.)
  6. Kendrick Lamar w/SZA – All the Stars
  7. Niall Horan – Slow Hands
  8. Walk the Moon – One Foot
  9. Rachel Platten – Broken Glass
  10. Sarah Bareilles – Cassiopeia (A perennial favorite.)
  11. The Revivalists – Wish I Knew You
  12. Julia Michaels w/Trippie Redd – Jump
